The History of Carrigaline - The Old Railway
Watch the video below which shows the route of the old Cork Blackrock Passage railway (which was built in 1850) that continued all the way to Carrigaline and Crosshaven between 1904 and 1932. The video footage was taken by a drone flying along the old railway route and also shows some old pictures of the railway line.
Later in the school year, we will be going on a History, Geography and Science trail around Carrigaline and we will be learning about the history of the old Cork Blackrock & Passage railway that passed through Carrigaline. I have put together some documents that we will be studying in class and you can download all of the documents below so that you can study them at home too! I would be delighted if any parents or grandparents can help us out with any knowledge of the history of the local area or the old railway by posting in the blog section of the website or maybe even arranging to call in to class to talk to us about local history! I hope you all enjoy learning a little about our interesting local history.
